Jake Paul Pledges Retirement if Defeated by Cedric Doumbe

Jake Paul has announced he will walk away from boxing if he loses his upcoming cruiserweight bout against Cedric Doumbe. The scheduled eight-round contest will be the American's first appearance since suffering a broken jaw in a stoppage defeat to Anthony Joshua. The two fighters are set to begin media duties with promotional events in Paris and Dubai.

Jake Paul has revealed that he will end his boxing career if he is defeated by Cedric Doumbe in an upcoming eight-round cruiserweight contest.

Addressing the matchup in a social media video, the 29-year-old described the bout as dangerous and praised Doumbe as a fearless two-time world champion who has competed against top-tier opponents throughout his career. Paul stated that a loss would lead him to retire from the sport completely, though he added that a victory would mean Doumbe lost to a former YouTuber competing with a titanium jaw.

The contest represents Paul's first return to action since last December, when he suffered a sixth-round stoppage defeat against former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua in Miami. That loss resulted in a broken jaw that required the American to undergo multiple surgeries. Paul, who established his public profile as a social media personality prior to launching his professional boxing career, holds a record of 12 victories and two defeats, having also lost to Britain's Tommy Fury.

Doumbe enters the contest having spent the majority of his combat sports career outside the traditional boxing ring. The 34-year-old previously captured two world championships in kickboxing, compiling a record of 75 wins, seven losses, one draw, and 45 knockouts. After transitioning to mixed martial arts, Doumbe has secured victories in six of his seven professional bouts, including a nine-second stoppage against Jordan Zebo in September 2023.

The fighters are scheduled to promote the upcoming clash with appearances before the media in Paris on November 10, followed by a second promotional event in Dubai two days later.
